Hybrid Remote Schedule
This role has the option to be a blend of remote and onsite work if department and business needs allow and with approval from direct supervision. Our hybrid remote work schedule combines three (3) days on premises with up to two (2) days remote.
Considering Different Levels
The following levels are open for consideration: Engineer 1, 2, 3 and Senior.
All levels are being considered for this position and the person chosen will be placed in the level in which they are experienced. Please see below for description of all levels.
Key Roles
Engineer Levels 1 and 2 - To assist in providing engineering services and support to assigned group. Works under direction of more senior individuals in work group. Willingly accepts range of assignments, subject to checks and verification by more expert team members.
Engineer Level 3 - To provide engineering services and support to assigned group. Demonstrates proficiency of technical expertise in work group area, and developing skills/familiarity in related technical areas. Ability to work independently on most assignments. Willingly accepts range of assignments, subject to limited checks and verification by more expert team members.
Senior Engineer - To provide expert engineering services and support to assigned group. To successfully manage assignments in a safe, regulatory compliant, timely, and cost effective manner. Demonstrates robust technical expertise in work group area and related technical areas. Ability to work independently on assignments and provide work direction to staff/contractors. Willingly accepts range of assignments. Serves as a technical representative of EKPC in a variety of public and corporate settings.
Key Responsibilities
Level 1 All Specialities:
Under direct supervision, develops reports and work plans which recommend action considering short and long-range objectives, economic and budget considerations, etc.
Under direct supervision, develops and coordinates individual project work plans and manages through completion taking needed corrective action. Informs supervisor and manager of any major developments or changes in direction of the project.
Assists with status report for all work assignments and keeps management informed on progress.
Assists with preparation of estimates (cost, work order, schedules).
Analyzes data and makes recommendations and/or decisions.
Maintains technical records (e.g. drawings, files, databases).
Gains awareness of all relevant procedures, specifications, and applicable codes, regulations, compliance rules, and standards (e.g. RUS, etc.).
Gains technical expertise and awareness of job related field, and remains current on the industry.
Works with other team members and supervisors in carrying out assignments.
Under guidance, provides engineering assistance for Member Cooperatives.
Assists with the creation of corporate standards and specification related to respective expertise.
Develops working knowledge of sound engineering practices and standards.
Performs all work in a safe and timely manner.
Level 1 Corporate Technical Services
Responds to and supports member system power quality issues involving a variety of account types such as residential, commercial, and industrial, as well as general distribution system issues.
Provides technical assistance for EKPC’s Demand Response Management System (DRMS) and supports transition into Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS).
Observes procedures for safely attaching power quality meters to equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Level 2 All Specialities
Under limited supervision, develops reports and work plans which recommend action considering short and long-range objectives, economic and budget considerations, etc.
Under limited supervision, develops and coordinates individual project work plans and manages through completion taking needed corrective action. Informs supervisor and manager of any major developments or changes in direction of the project.
Collaborates on the preparation of work plans and monitors actual progress of applicable portions, taking any corrective action required.
Completes status report for all work assignments and keeps management informed on progress.

Trains and develops less experienced engineers.
Manages multiples assignments with minimal assistance.

Leads development of work plans and monitors actual progress of applicable portions, taking any corrective action required.
Completes status report for all work assignments and keeps management informed on progress.
Technical representative in meetings with public, members, vendors, contractors, and other utilities.
Successfully manages complex assignments on routine basis.
Trains and develops less experienced engineers.

Senior Level Corporate Technical Services
Responds to and supports member system power quality issues involving a variety of account types such as residential, commercial, and industrial, as well as general distribution system issues.
Advises and engineers power quality solutions at control/device level, plant wide, distribution, and transmission level.
Provides technical assistance for EKPC’s Demand Response Management System (DRMS) and supports transition into Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS). Attends and contributes to weekly project calls.
Safely attaches power quality meters to equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
Serves as the electrical engineering technical subject matter expert to the Corporate Technical Services group.
Informs related parties of DER interconnections and impact to the distribution network power flows, protection, thermal limitations, voltage limitations, and transient causes.
Works with commercial and industrial members to assist in power factor correction, and to design, install, and maintain capacitor bank equipment.
Contributes to discussion of owner-member’s Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI).
Serves as a liaison to the member-owner technical staff.
Performs commercial and industrial energy audits.

Key Requirements
Level 1 Education - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. Based upon EKPC's business needs, a specific discipline may be determined.
