Engineer II Product Development (Electrical)

Your responsibilities
Engineer II, Product Development (Electrical) positions function within the Design Engineering Department comprised of a team of associates in which the rapid development of highly featured, high value products is required. The department is responsible for new product development as well as sustaining topics. The ability to make sound design decisions based on product knowledge and manufacturing processes is key. This position requires an individual to be self-motivated, working with minimal supervision, while achieving high quality end results. This position develops specifications for electrical devices for appliances, and provides oversight of suppliers during the development of those devices. Additionally, the individual makes or approves wiring specifications, supports manufacturing and quality on testing and troubleshooting issues and approves off the shelf component specifications. This function also provides technical support and direction for Test and Evaluation, for Field Service and for regulatory issues.
· Specifies and designs the functional electrical requirements of various products.
· Communicates and coordinates electrical design issues with vendors
· Directs testing and evaluation of new and problem electrical components (Controls, Motors, Heaters, valves, wiring, etc)
· Supports field test initiatives and directives
· Supports software development and testing for Cooking controls and operating modules
· Supports and designs the wire harnesses layouts.
· Supports compliance to approval agencies requirements
· Supports with development of wireless applications and components
· Instructs assembly personnel how to properly install and connect electrical components.
· Guides test personnel how to efficiently troubleshoot appliances
· Analyzes field problems and returns
· Supports technical service in determining various causes & fixes of problems reported from the field
· Explores, develops and recommends cost improvement ideas
· Development of Tools, and processes necessary to interact with control platforms as needed
· Debug issues and determine root cause failure analysis.
· Must be able to work within groups both domestically and internationally (German a plus)
· Directs and leads specification and development of new electronic control boards and related components. This includes internal and external direction on design and validation efforts.
· Directs and leads specification and development of new software packages.
· Project Management responsibility for assigned mid to high level activities & projects.
· Performs all other duties as assigned
Your profile
· Bachelor’s degree (Electrical Engineering) – Required
· 3-5 Years of Experience (Electrical Product Development) – Required
· 5-7 Years of Experience (Electrical Product Development) – Preferred
· Potential Domestic & International Travel
· Good communication and organizational skills.
· Candidate must take ownership of decisions made in the performance of duties.
· Ability to use electronic test equipment.
· Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques.
· Ability to handle confidential information relating to descriptions and specifications of proprietary appliance control hardware design and software algorithms, product development and introduction schedules, product costs and product performance weaknesses.
· Networked PC. Electronic testing equipment, special purpose performance testing equipment, software development systems and testers
· Travel Percentage – 10%
Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the maximum payout potential is 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
