Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Manufacturing is seeking a Manager 3, Manufacturing Automation Engineering and Digital Transformation to join the Leadership Team. The Automation Engineering and Digital Transformation Manager will be responsible for shaping and executing the automation and digital transformation strategy for Manufacturing and Operations within the AMS Business Division, the Baltimore Campus, and the Mission Systems sector – achieving industrial and data automations that advance operational efficiency for the organization.

The position requires leadership of a technical team of approximately 18 total engineers that are responsible for:
Defining the system integrations and tools required to advance modeling, simulation, data and equipment connectivity at scale; including establishing the Manufacturing and Operations requirements and evaluating the solutions developed
Advancing simulation tool implementation and standardizing processes that enable utilization of simulation for Manufacturing and Operations
Developing and applying design for automation standards
Establishing standard industrial automation applications, platforms and tools
Implementing industrial automation and connectivity solutions for a defined business value
Supporting and optimizing automated processes in the factory
The Automation Engineering and Digital Transformation Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:
Lead the manufacturing business interface between Manufacturing Operations, Functional Organizations (Engineering, Business Divisions), and development programs (Mission PLM, Mission Connectivity and Manufacturing Execution System, Digital Transformation Office) to develop, align and execute the Automation and Digital Transformation strategy; lead the process from requirements and prioritization, to capability development and integration, through deployment and implementation including user acceptance testing, onboarding and adoption where applicable
Establish the pipeline of automation and connectivity capabilities and processes required by the business; ensure business value and priority development align to leadership and strategic expectations; will require assessing requirements across multiple manufacturing sites, functional and process areas; customer satisfaction measured via effective implementation of the business objectives
Lead, stand up and coordinate capability and pilot demonstrations that advance tools for Automation, PLM, Digital Twin/Simulation and Equipment and Data connectivity; ensure coordination between operations end users, vendors, strategic consultants and enterprise functional organizations
Provide subject matter expertise, including any qualified suppliers, and lead the manufacturing and operations business process owners to align capability development with business objectives and strategy. Expertise in domains that include: Electromechanical assembly, Surface Mount Technology, Machine Fabrication, Microelectronics and PCB Fabrication processes; Automation solution development and implementation; System architecture, integration, scaling and sustainment
Lead the management and communication of project objectives to ensure successful technical and financial execution; work with leadership to identify objectives and to acquire funding; develop key suppliers that enable project execution
Maintain team affordability and advance team effectiveness; ensure team resources and skills are in place to meet both technical and financial objectives; promote career development and employee engagement; assess employee performance
Brief Sector Operations, Business Division and Enterprise Leadership on strategy and projects, automation objectives and digital transformation concepts
The Manager of Automation Engineering and Digital Transformation must perform in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility operation; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must have a passion for people, innovation, and excellence and the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines to solve complex issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of relevant professional experience (7 years with a Master's degree)
Experience implementing integrated capabilities for industrial and data automations
Demonstrated intermediate experience with project management and communication including associated tools and methods
Must have fluency in MS Office software applications
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field
Experience with the deployment and integration of enterprise tools and applications
Experience with industrial automation and controls implementation and support
Experience in a leadership position managing people and projects
Experience with Siemens PLM and Tool Suite - TeamCenter, NX, Tecnomatix, Mentor and Valor
Experience with ISA-95 framework
Experience with factory data connectivity and Manufacturing Execution Systems
Experience as a Business Owner or Business Process Owner with Agile processes specifically Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Six Sigma Black belt/Green belt certification from an accredited program
MANUMS
Salary Range: $160,100 USD - $252,100 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
