Job Description:
As an integral part of the Digital Marketing team, the Manager of Web Development & Operations provides technical leadership working closely with all the other functional teams within Marketing & Communications, to develop the best possible front-end web pages and back-end systems for the College while maintaining high standards of quality and performance. This includes building an agile web engineering culture, refining and enforcing development standards and processes, and working with the greater campus community on web development best practices. The ideal candidate must have strong technical, organizational and communications skills, and a passion for user-centered technology.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead web development scoping, planning, and technical architecture for all projects involving Omni CMS, FSCNow Microsite, and WordPress development.
Develop solutions for institutional website and other web templates (landing pages, news, events, profiles, and email marketing).
Identify and evaluate strategic improvements, including new technology and software.
Contribute to ongoing enhancement of the website's information architecture and back-end systems.
Manage a small development team, including campus-wide content contributors, as well as hosting partners and third-party developers (contractors) to ensure technical quality, product quality, and efficient use of resources.
Take a hands-on development approach to creating new pages and features across the whole stack, with a specific focus on the presentation layer.
Perform code reviews and provide feedback on all internal and external code.
Maintain relationships and connections to other teams to ensure that integrations are maintained and enhanced.
Identify, evaluate, and implement new technology that is beneficial to the digital goals of the organization.
Perform root cause analysis on product and process deficiencies, and define and implement changes.
Ensure the development team is effectively engaged and that products in development match resources available.
Regularly communicate with the digital marketing leadership, marketing directors, and content staff to discuss direction, strategy, and priority.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field.
5+ years of web development experience, including experience in PHP development on large-scale web products and applications.
Great proficiency and understanding of PHP development.
Strong knowledge of modern, full stack web development such as front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML, and XSL) and back-end (PHP, Node.js, REST, and SQL).
Experience with API development, third-party software integration using APIs, and understanding developer documentation.
Reasonable knowledge of webservers, databases, caching, and the management of hosting infrastructure.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years managing a development team and/or technology vendors.
Experience with using the Omni CMS content management system, including the unique versions of the XML and XSL languages used in Omni CMS templates.
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with people of diverse skill levels and varying backgrounds in a higher education setting.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time UUP position.
For the first 10 working days, beginning Monday, July 17, 2023 and ending Friday, July 28, 2023, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

Salary: $90,000 + $3,026 in downstate location pay = $93,026 Total Annual Compensation.
