Department Summary:
The MITRE Quantum Moonshot program is a groundbreaking program developing the technology of the future now – MITRE is partnered in this endeavor with world-leading research groups at MIT and Sandia National Laboratory. The Quantum Moonshot is comprised of a large team of 30+ individuals fully committed to the project goals. This project is under the direction of MITRE Fellow Dr. Gerry Gilbert, along with Professor Dirk Englund (MIT) and Professor Matt Eichenfield (University of Arizona/Sandia).
The Quantum Moonshot program is seeking an ambitious and motivated candidate to join MITRE’s Quantum Moonshot team as a full-time, dedicated individual to support the groundbreaking activities taking place in the Quantum Moonshot Laboratory located in MITRE-Bedford. The ideal candidate should have expertise in python software development for control of multi-component hardware systems (including but not limited to signal generators, lasers, electro-optic modulators, single photon counting modules, spatial light modulators), as well as the desire to contribute to full-system modelling and simulation using software design and CAD tools. In this role you will have the opportunity to coordinate with partners in MIT’s Quantum Photonics Laboratory to develop system-level software control of quantum optical experiments, as well as contribute to system-level modelling and simulation This position offers opportunities to work independently within a dynamic and fast-paced collaboration, developing software tools vital to the manipulation of qubits as a path towards building a universal quantum computer.
The ideal candidate should possess a degree in a technical field (EE, physics, material science, etc) and extensive experience with python programming for hardware control, as well as experience with CAD design and modelling. Experience with software design for quantum control is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Expertise in Python software development:
Signal generators, lasers, electro-optic modulators, single photon counting modules, spatial light modulators
Desire and ability to work on system-level CAD modelling
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Preferred Qualifications:
Extensive experience with python programming for control of quantum control hardware
Background in CAD modelling and system simulation
Experience with software design for quantum control
